CFR FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

Welcome to The Center for Resilience. We know that beginning therapy can feel like a big step, and we want to make the process as transparent, compassionate, and stress-free as possible. Below you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions we receive about therapy, payment, and what to expect when working with our trauma-informed therapists virtually and across the state of Massachusetts.

Payment-Related Questions

  • Do you offer virtual appointments to people living outside of Massachusetts?

At this time, our therapists are licensed to provide psychotherapy and telehealth therapy to clients who live in Massachusetts. For individuals living outside of the state, we offer consultation and coaching services that can be accessed from anywhere. These sessions can be helpful for guidance, education, or personal growth work that doesn’t fall under psychotherapy.

  • How do I become a client?

To get started, simply fill out our contact form or email us directly. Our intake coordinator will reach out to learn a bit more about what you’re looking for and match you with atherapist who aligns with your goals and schedule. We’ll then schedule your first session to begin the process together.

  • Do you have a waitlist?

Sometimes! Availability depends on each clinician’s caseload. If your preferred therapist is full, we’ll offer options with other therapists within our practice or provide trusted referrals to other counseling practices in Massachusetts that share our values.

  • How do I pay for services?

You can pay securely through our client portal using credit card, debit card, HSA, or FSA. Payments are processed within  5-7 business days after the time of your session, whether you’re attending in-person therapy in Massachusetts or meeting virtually through Telehealth.

  • What insurances do you take?

We accept a range of insurance plans, which vary by clinician. Please contact us at (413) 345 - 6159 or contact your insurance company to confirm coverage before beginning sessions. (A detailed list of accepted plans will be added here soon.)

  • Can I pay out of pocket for services?

Yes. Many clients choose private pay therapy for greater flexibility, privacy, or out-of-network reasons. Upon request, we can provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement.

Therapy-Related Questions

  • When is payment due?

Payment is due at the time of each session unless other arrangements have been made. Most clients keep a card safely encrypted on their patient portal for their convenience.

  • Who can I contact for billing questions?

For billing or insurance questions, please contact our administrative coordinator at (413) 345 - 6159. We’re happy to help clarify costs, coverage, or payment options for therapy in Massachusetts or online.

  • What services do you offer?

We provide individual therapy, couples therapy, family therapy, group therapy, and school consultation services. Our clinicians integrate Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), Trauma-Focused Psychotherapy, Buddhist Psychotherapy, and Relational Therapy, creating a holistic approach to trauma healing and personal growth.

  • If I’m unsure about the waitlist, are there other agencies you recommend?

Each clinician brings a unique specialty and background, and we all share a deep belief in the power of relationship, safety, and trust in the healing process.

  • What qualifications and licenses do your therapists have?

Yes. Several of our therapists specialize in child and adolescent therapy as well as family systems work. We tailor our approach to each developmental stage, working closely with caregivers when appropriate.

  • Do you offer bilingual services?

At this time, English is our primary language of service. However, some clinicians have multilingual and multicultural experience, allowing us to offer culturally responsive therapy for clients from diverse backgrounds.

  • How long are therapy sessions?

Most sessions last 50–55 minutes. Longer sessions are available for couples, families, or trauma intensives upon request.

  • How frequently do sessions occur?

Most clients meet weekly, though some transition to biweekly or monthly sessions as they make progress. Your therapist will work collaboratively with you to determine what frequency best supports your goals.

  • How long does therapy usually last?

Therapy length varies by person. Some clients come for short-term counseling for life transitions, while others engage in long-term trauma recovery therapy. Healing unfolds at its own pace—we’ll support you for as long as you need.

  • What should I expect in the first session?

The first session is about connection and understanding. You’ll share what’s bringing you to therapy, your hopes, and any questions you have. Your therapist will explain their approach and begin to co-create a plan for your care. There’s no pressure to be perfect—just an invitation to begin where you are.

  • How do I know which therapist is the right fit for me?

We’ll match you with a clinician based on your goals, preferences, and schedule. The relationship between therapist and client is central to healing, so we always encourage open communication about fit. If you ever want to explore working with a different clinician, we’ll support that transition with care.

  • Can I switch therapists within the practice if I feel another might be a better fit?

Yes. We believe that therapy should always feel safe and aligned. If another therapist within The Center for Resilience feels like a better match, we’ll make that transition easy and respectful.

  • What if I’m not sure I’m ready for therapy yet?

That’s completely okay. Many people reach out just to ask questions or learn more. We offer free consultation calls to help you explore whether therapy—or coaching—is right for you right now.

  • What if I’ve tried therapy before and it didn’t help?

It’s very common to feel discouraged after past therapy experiences. Healing can look different depending on the therapist, timing, or approach. Our clinicians specialize in relational, trauma-informed care that honors your pace and your story. Together, we’ll create something that finally feels like it fits.
