Finding the right therapist matters.
Beginning therapy can feel like a big step. At The Center for Resilience, we want the process of getting started to feel clear, personal and collaborative.
Our goal isn't simply to assign you to the next available therapist. We want to learn a little about what you're looking for, help you explore potential therapist matches and give you an opportunity to connect with a therapist before deciding whether working together feels right.
You don't need to know exactly what you need or who you want to work with before you begin. We'll help you explore that with us.
Who We Serve
CFR provides therapy for children, adolescents and adults, as well as couples, families and groups.
People come to therapy for many different reasons. Some are navigating a specific challenge or painful experience. Others are trying to understand patterns in their lives or relationships, adjust to a period of change or simply create more space to understand themselves and what they want their lives to become.
Our therapists work with people navigating experiences including:
- Trauma and the lasting impact of difficult experiences
- Anxiety, stress and emotional overwhelm
- Depression, grief and loss
- Relationships and recurring relational patterns
- Family and parenting challenges
- Identity, self-esteem and self-understanding
- LGBTQIA+ experiences
- Life transitions and periods of change
- School, behavioral and emotional challenges
- Neurodivergence and ADHD
- Chronic illness and the relationship between physical and emotional well-being
- Boundaries, self-advocacy and rebuilding trust in yourself
- Personal growth and exploring what you want your life to become
You do not need to find the perfect category for what you are experiencing. If you are unsure whether CFR might be a good fit, you can still begin the intake process and we can explore that with you.
How Getting Started Works
1. Tell Us a Little About Yourself
Complete our Become a Client form—or Ser Cliente if you prefer Spanish—and share some basic information about yourself, what you're looking for and your insurance coverage.
You don't need to know exactly what you want to work on or which therapist you want to see. If there is a particular CFR therapist you feel drawn to, you can include their name in the Additional Information section of the form.
As part of the form, we'll ask you to upload clear photos of the front and back of your health insurance card. If you have secondary insurance, we ask that you be sure to upload that card as well. Having clear images of all of your insurance cards helps our team confirm your coverage and determine whether your insurance can be used for services at CFR before we move forward.
2. We'll Verify Your Insurance
Before moving forward with a therapist match, our team will review the insurance information you provided and verify your coverage.
We'll share the information available to us about your coverage and expected financial responsibility. Because insurance benefits can vary, you can also contact the member services number on the back of your insurance card if you'd like additional information about your behavioral health benefits.
3. We'll Connect With You
Once we've reviewed your information, a member of the CFR team will reach out by phone or email.
We'll learn a little more about what you're looking for and talk with you about potential therapist matches based on your needs, preferences, therapist availability and anything else that feels important to consider.
4. Complete Your Intake Paperwork
We'll send you a secure invitation to the CFR Therapy Portal, where you can create your login and complete the paperwork needed before moving forward.
Your portal invitation will remain active for 7 days. If you're unable to complete the paperwork during that time, you can contact us and we'll help you determine the next step.
5. Meet a Potential Therapist
Once your paperwork is complete, we'll help connect you with a potential therapist for a free 15-minute consultation.
This is an opportunity for you and the therapist to meet, ask questions and get a sense of whether working together feels like a good fit.
6. Decide What Feels Right
If you and the therapist decide you'd like to work together, you'll schedule your first therapy appointment.
If the therapist doesn't feel like the right fit, that's okay. Let us know, and we'll help you explore another potential match when possible.
Finding the Right Therapist
The relationship matters.
We believe finding the right therapist is about more than matching a diagnosis or concern with an area of clinical expertise. The relationship you develop with your therapist—whether you feel comfortable, understood, respected and able to be yourself—can be an important part of the work.
When you complete the Become a Client form, you can let us know if there is a particular CFR therapist you feel drawn to. Take a moment to look through the therapists on our team, as you may connect with someone's identity, lived experience, areas of focus, clinical approach or simply something about the way they describe themselves and their work.
We'll also talk with you about what you're looking for and help you explore potential matches based on your needs, preferences, therapist availability and other factors that may be important to you.
Before deciding whether to begin therapy together, you'll have the opportunity for a free 15-minute consultation with a potential therapist. This gives both of you a chance to connect, ask questions and get a sense of whether working together feels like a good fit.
If the first therapist you meet doesn't feel like the right fit, that's okay. Let us know. When possible, we'll help you explore another potential match.
Meet Our TherapistsTelehealth & In-Person Therapy
Therapy that can fit into your life.
CFR provides telehealth therapy throughout Massachusetts, allowing clients to meet with their therapist from a private space that works for them.
For many people, telehealth makes consistent therapy more accessible by reducing travel, transportation and scheduling barriers. It can also allow clients to work with a CFR therapist who feels like the right fit even when that therapist is located in another part of the state.
In-person therapy is also available with some CFR therapists, depending on therapist location, availability and the needs of the client.
If you have a preference for telehealth or in-person therapy, you can share that with us when you begin the intake process. We'll take that preference into consideration as we help you explore potential therapist matches.

CFR accepts public and private health insurance as well as private pay. We believe a person's insurance or ability to pay privately should not determine the quality or personalization of the therapy available to them.
